My Weekend

Friday: Drove up to Orono for the Liberty Summer Seminar. Arrived around 10:30, talked, drank some beer.

Saturday: First day for the LSS. Listened to speakers, ate, socialized. Finished up the night with the musical stylings of Lindy and a fair amount of Liberty Ale. Also the announcement of the formation of the Institute for Liberal Studies.

Special props to Fraser Institute founder Michael Walker who not only stayed up until 4:30am, but was up at 8:00am for tennis. (Or so I'm told, I was definitely not up at 8am.)

Sunday: More food, more speakers, more socializing and the sales of our first 20 memberships in the Institute for Liberal Studies. Then the long drive home.

The Weekend

Friday night after finishing up here I headed home to Windsor. Upon arriving I met up with a couple people at Cramdon's for a couple of drinks before heading home for some much needed sleep.

Saturday was spent catching up on sleep, and responding to a bunch of emails from work that I've been unable to get to since I've been stuck behind this firewall. Later in the afternoon I headed to my Aunts 60th birthday party (which was just dinner at Franco's). Following dinner I stopped off at my sisters place and tore down the back deck to make room for the soon to be installed air conditioner. The remainder of the evening was spent at a house party in Forest Glade.

Sunday I installed a DVD writer for Brian, lounged around the house and dreaded the upcoming drive to TO. I headed to bed early so I didn't fall asleep on my lenghty drive this morning.

The Weekend...

Friday: We had a nice relaxing evening at home. Since we were both tired we went to bed early.

Saturday: Mar was tired and was just getting over her cold, so instead of shopping, i let her sleep. Then i went outside, mowed lawn and rolled it. It was pretty warm out there, i think they said with the humidex it was around 110F. Later Mar's sister and nephew came over. Then we headed out to a keg party, which was a good time, but left me quite deaf.

Sunday: Got up and went grocery shopping. After that i did a few things around the house and we headed to Mar's parent's place. Their next door neighbour was throwing away a treadmill, after toting it back to her parent's garage, we found out why it was being thrown away. Then we headed out to my parent's for supper. Roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, beans, corn on the cob and some homemade brownies for desert. My dad helped me cut up some boards for a few projects i'm working on. We stayed and chatted for a while, then headed home, watched some tv, and went to bed.

Last Night

After work (which went much later than I had originally planned) I headed back to the hotel to quickly get changed and head to Mississauga. I met up with some friends for dinner at East Side Marios and afterwards hung around their apartment. Eventually I returned home to the hotel and went to bed.

Went home, decided to bbq, but by the time i was ready it was pouring rain. Ate supper, continued to work on cleaning up my office downstairs. Watched a bit of tv and went to bed.

After work a few of us here headed out for drinks at a bar down the road. Following that I headed back to the hotel, watched some television and eventually drifted off to sleep.

A small and short lived change from the norm, as i didn't go directly home, but rather, loaded up a couple hutches into my sister's vehicle and then went home. We returned to pick up a desk i got in the auction. After that round trip we loaded up my sister's desk and other auction items and then i returned home. I ate, then started the process of removing things from my office, so i could get my new desk in. I took a break around 9:30 to watch some south park and relax with Mar. Then went back and set up my computer and went to bed.

The Philosophy of Bolging

The bolg has inspired many reactions during it's short time in existence. Chiefly a yawn or a dumbfounded "don't you guys have anything better to do?" But many are fascinated by the fact that somewhere between 2 to 6 people have been motivated to give, with dubious regularlity, detailed accounts of their evenings for almost no reason that are then read by an astoundingly small audience.

The amount of effort (as time is the scarcest resource of all) that is put into bolging implies that there is something greater than the bolg itself which is contained within the activity of bolging. This begs the question what motivates the bolger?

It is my proposition that bolging is representive of minimalism (the movements in various forms of art and design, especially visual art and music, where the work is stripped down to its most fundamental features and core self expression. ) or deconstructionism (which finds concrete experience more valid than abstract ideas and, therefore, refutes any attempts to produce a history, or a truth. In other words, the multiplicities and contingencies of human experience necessarily bring knowledge down to the local and specific level, and challenge the tendency to centralize power through the claims of an ultimate truth which must be accepted or obeyed by all.).

In conclusion I would like to point out that his post is an extreme violation of the bolging spirit.

Last Night

After leaving from work I headed for Toronto. Upon arriving I thought about taking a nap but changed my mind and instead headed to Mississauga to meet up with some people working in the area. Later in the evening I headed back to the hotel to get some sleep.

Went home, read, ate. Mar and I were both tired, so we decided not to do too much, which turned into weed wacking, and a couple hours of shrub trimming and resulting cleanup. After that, we came inside, worked out, watched a bit of tv and went to bed.

From work I headed to get my haircut. Once that was finished I headed to my sisters house to watch some tv and kill a couple hours while I waited for Sara to finish up work. We then met up at Starbucks for some coffee and conversation. Once that wrapped up we went our seperate ways and I headed to Cramdon's to meet up with friends for drinks.

The Weekend

Friday: After work I headed back to my sisters to take a quick nap before the evening got started. Following the nap I headed to the mall to meet up with my cousin and a friend of his. We hung out for then evening visiting random establishments.

Saturday: I spent the bulk of the day lounging around the house catching up on some much needed sleep. Later in the afternoon I headed to my friends bbque and caught up with some old friends I hadn't seen in a while. I later left to meet up for dinner plans I had made earlier in the day. Following dinner we went for ice cream. After my dinner plans wrapped up I returned to the bbque for more catching up. Eventually a few of us left and headed downtown. The evening wrapped up with a stop by the casino.

Sunday: Again much sleeping took place, followed by a family dinner and our christmas in July gift exchange. Once that all wrapped up I headed to Windsor for my usualy Sunday night at Spicoli's.

The Weekend...

Friday: We went to a breast cancer benefit comedy show at the KomedyKorner. We saw mellisa there, she'd been drinking and put me in a head lock. Actually she just said hi. Then we went home, watched family business and went to bed.

Saturday: Slept in. Then we cleaned up the house, went and visited one of Mar's friends for a bit. Then we had a relaxing evening at home, ok well i did, Mar was feeling quite sick. We watched Jay and Silent bob strike back and went to bed.

Sunday: Slept in. Got up, mowed lawn, trimmed up some hedges a bit. We went grocery shopping. Bbq'd up some food, watched a bit of tv, then had a little fire in our fireplace outside. All and all pretty relaxing weekend.

Last Night

After work I headed to my sisters place for dinner (we ordered a Pizza). Following a few hours of television I headed to Time Out to meet up with Jay. From there we went to the Brick House for the remainder of the evening.

Last Night...

Went home, read, ate. I helped Mar clean out the turtle pool. We went for a bike ride. Worked out a bit, then watched some tv and went to bed.

Last Night...

Went home, read, bbq'd up some food. When i went to buy cheesey sasauges a couple weeks ago, they were out of my normal brand, so i decided to try pc brand. On the bbq they spewed cheese that just kept crazy constant flames, and did much the same in my belly, possibly a bad lot, but i but i had to fight hard not to get sick. After that, i just kind of slowly worked my way around the house for a couple hours until i felt better. Then we watched some tv and went to bed.

After work I headed to donate a quick pint of blood. From there I made a brief stop to fix a computer for a friend of mine. The remainder of the evening involved some mall walking, coffee at Moxies, a visit at Brian' s, and drinks at Brews & Cues.

After work I head to Pita Pit for a quick bite to eat. From there it was straight to baseball. The opposing team forefit the first game so we only had to play one (which in the heat yesterday was no disappointment). After baseball some of the team hung around Stanley's for a while. I eventually left for cramdon's and ultimatley ended up at Papa Cheney's. The night wrapped up with some Taco Bell and a long drive back to Harrow.

Last Night...

Went home, Mar had dinner ready. We headed out to lasalle to check on some of her family's animals. Brought a couple turtles back to put in a turtle pool behind our house for a couple days. On the way back i was following a crossfire, when stopped at a light the person started shooting me the finger and partially leaning out his window. I assumed it was just a person who thought i was someone else. Once through the light he pulled into the other lane, turns out it was one of my cousin's friends and somehow he recognized me in his rear view mirror. I filled with gas, and headed home. We spent a little time outside, worked out, watched some tv and went to bed.

Last Night

After work I headed to my sisters place to change quickly for the concert. Shortly after everyone else arrived and we headed off. We made a quick stop at an AutoZone to pick up some AC coolant that isn't available for sale in Canada and then continued on to DTE for the show. We made it in plenty of time only to realize that Heart didn't actually come on until 9:00. After sitting for an hour and a half listening to the opening act Heart finally started their performance. They wrapped things up just in time for the skies to open up and pour rain. After the slow drive home through the weather, I returned to Harrow and headed to bed.

Last Night...

Went home, spent a bit of time on the computer. Had some left over kfc, then went outside to read as i was freezing still from work. After about a half an hour in the heat i took off my sweater, it wasn't close to the 90 some odd degrees that was the high. At about 8pm i mowed the front lawn. After that i went back inside and worked out. Mar came home from her family party, we watched a bit of tv and went to bed.

The weekend

Friday night I headed out to Belle River to hang out with everyone at the cottage. We played a little ping pong, did a little drinking, and just relaxed around the fire the rest of the evening.

Saturday was spent washing my car and trying to get ahold of my would be date for the day. Unfortunately I only managed to get my car washed, and familiarize myself with the Rogers operator who politely informed each time I called that the customer I was trying to reach was currently unavailable. Saturday night we met up at Brian's and then headed downtown.

Sunday included a family lunch at my Grandma's place so she could thank everyone for their help with the yard sale this weekend. Following that I fixed a friends iPod then we headed to Moxies for dessert. Afterwards I met up with people at Spicoli's where I had a drink and headed home.

The Weekend...

Friday: Went with Mar to a stag and doe for my cousin. Derek showed up with his woman. I hadn't drank in a long time and unfortunately indulged in a few drinks. All in all it was a good time.

Saturday: Woke up around 7am, got out of bed at 8:40, spent the next 3 hrs in the bathroom. Finally got moving around 3pm and went with Mar over to her parent's place to swim. After a while in the sun and the pool i got feeling better. I mowed the back lawn when we got home. Then we had a relaxing evening and watched gone in 60 seconds.

Sunday: Got up fairly early, went groccery shopping. Went to canadian tire and got a shop vac and some cheap fold up saw horses. Looked up movie times in the paper and went to see xmen 3, i enjoyed it. Did some stuff around the house, and a little outside as it was pretty hot. Mar went to visit her sister and brought home a bucket of chicken. Her sister and nephew came over later for a bit. Then i was exhausted and went to bed.

Last Night

After work I headed to my Grandma's house to move some furniture out of her basement in preperation for the yard sale she's having over the weekend (she's moving out, so everything must go). Once that wrapped up I returned to Jay's place to chill out and watch some tv for a bit. Eventually we headed to the Brick House to party for the remainder of the evening. Once things wrapped up and we got back to Jay's we decided to grab some McDonalds and watch 'So I Married an Axe Murderer'. Early in the movie I called it quits and went to bed.

Last Night...

Went home, read, ate. My parent's stopped by for a minute to drop off some mail and pick up a wireless router. We then headed out for a bike ride, came home, worked out a bit. We watched some tv, a little daily show and colbert report, then went to bed.

After work I headed to Jay's place where we all hung around, bbque'd, ate, and watched tv. Following that I finally got a much needed full nights sleep.

Went home, read, ate. Mar and I went for a bike ride. After returning home we watched a good portion of Angela's Ashes, worked out a bit. Caught parts of the daily show and the colbert report, then went to bed.

After work I headed to baseball (which I thought would have been rained out for sure). Following baseball I met up with friends at Jay's house for a bbque and some television viewing. Later in the evening I headed home to bed.

Last Night...

Went home, Mar was babysitting her nephew. She took him home, then we had supper. Both of us were really tired so we laid down for a nap. The nap lasted a little longer then we planned, so we got up and went to bed.

After work I returned home for dinner. After dinner it was time to head back to Cramdon's for the remainder of the evening for some drinks and relaxing with friends.

I headed out to my parent's place. Then from there we went to the Michigan tavern in essex for their anniversary dinner. After that went back to their place again, i chopped up a bit of wood, and borrowed a set of hedge trimmers. Visited until about 10pm then headed home. Mar joined me outsite while i put stuff away, we sat outside for a bit. I heard a noise off beside the shed, looked up to what seemed like a black animal with a white stripe down it's back. So i got up and closed the shed, so i didn't have to worry about getting the skunk out of there. About 5 minutes later, the skunk made it's way around the shed and slipped through a hole under the fence to our neighbours backyard. Then we headed off to bed.

Last Week

Thursday: Left Windsor around 5:30pm, finally arrived in Portland around 2:00am. Slept on houseboat.

Friday: Got ready to leave on boat, reverse was broken. Departure delayed until around 3:30pm. Spent the night at the Newboro lock.

Saturday: Persuaded the others to spend the morning in the metropolis of Newboro. I, and what I can only imagine was almost the entire population of the town, gathered in the local pub to watch England lose to Portugal. Made our way down the Rideau Canal System and "anchored" in a bay just past Jones Falls. Overnight we drifted about 1km without hitting shore.

Sunday: Dehydration sets in. Consumption of non-alcoholic beverages in increased. Travelled down to the Kingston Confederation Marina. Had dinner at Stoney's before returning to the boat.

Monday: Explored Kingston, including their incredibly well stocked LCBO. Replenished our beer and picked up 8 bottles of Liberty Ale to bring back to Windsor. Went to Fort Henry in the afternoon, to the Lonestar for dinner. And then made a determined attempt to kill my liver*, it seems to have survived.

Tuesday: Left Kingston (after getting a jump due to our dead battery) and made it to Upper Brewers Locks. Discovered that the locals hands smelt of corn*.

Wednesday: Continued back to Westport. Bought some water guns in the local toy store and declared war on fellow boat occupants. BBQ'd some steaks. Attempted to go into town and frequent their two bars. The first closed after our first beer. Went up to the other bar where we were informed the local "lob pitch" league was playing. Attempted to route enthusiastically for a randomly selected team. By the time our team got up to bat the mosquitos were about to drag us away, we retreated into the bar. Two of my friends played rock paper scissors for the chance to go to Kingston with random bar people, the winner passed up the opportunity.

Thursday: Returned the boat and returned to Windsor.

Friday: Went downtown with Janet, then to the beach. At Biblioasis I received a refund of 11 cents since they had not yet adjusted their cash register to 6% GST. Spent some time at home, then went to the Riverside Tavern with Janet and Nick.

Saturday: Read about elevated e coli levels at Sandpoint. Went to the mall and discovered that the Roundhouse LCBO stocks Liberty Ale (kind of, they had two bottles).

Sunday: Hung around at home, watched the soccer game, napped, read, surfed the inter-web.

The Last Few Days

Wednesday night was the train ride to Toronto, checking in, and going to bed.

Thursday night was drinks on a patio at some bar followed by dinner at Jack Astors.

Friday night was the train ride home followed by drinks at the Brick House and a stop at the casino.

Saturday was spent watching soccer followed by a Jack & Jill. Once that wrapped up a group of us returned to Brian's to watch a movie and get some pizza.

Sunday was spent lounging around the house and watching the World Cup finals. Later in the day I headed to Spicoli's for the usual Sunday night outting.

The Weekend...

Friday: Had a nice relaxing evening.

Saturday: Got up around noon. Went to Alison's Travel to book a trip to vegas. The power was out when we got there, but came back on shortly after, and everything is a go. Did some shopping for gifts. Went home, had supper. Went on a bike ride, turns out there is a conservation area not far from our place, we rode through that and back. Then Mar's sister and brother-in-law came over and we had a fire in the fireplace outside.

Sunday: Slept until about noon again. Got up and went to my friend's baby's christianing party. After that we headed out to woodslee for my cousin's twin's 1st bday party. They took us for a tour of the new home they are building, quite impressive. We made it back to windsor in time to get our grocerries before the stores closed. Then relaxed the rest of the evening.

Went home, ate dinner. Tried napping but my head was hurting too bad. Spent some time on the computer. Watched some tv and went to bed. Hopefully by tonight the cold will be all gone and i can enjoy the weekend.

Went home, was still feeling a bit under the weather. Bbq'd up some food, relaxed outside for a bit. Then had a nice quiet evening with Mar.

Went home to find a house full of Mar's relatives, i warned them of my cold and they moved outside. I bbq'd up some supper. Then Mar's sister and brother-in-law and us went to see superman returns. I actually enjoyed it more than the originals.

After work I headed to Cramdon's, watched the rest of the soccer game, had some dinner, played some pool, and evetually headed home.

The Long Weekend

Friday night was an attempt at heading to see a movie (Nacho Libre was the film of choice). Upon arriving at the theatre we learned our free passes weren't valid so we headed off to Blockbuster to rent a movie and then returned to Brians to watch said cinematic adventure (Exorcism of Emily Rose).

Saturday morning was spent recovering from Friday and preping for round two which was fast approaching. The evening marked the return to Brian's house to pick up the partying where we left off Friday night. We eventually made it to our friends house party that he was throwing. Shortly after arriving the night becomes a fog.

Sunday we had a small bbque/birthday party for my mom and sister. Following the bbque I headed to the Loop with some friends for the evening.

Monday was spent roaming the city moving furniture and taking care of some last minute things at my Grandmas old house (my parents have sold it, and they close on it later this week so we had to make sure everything was out of there). Monday night was spent at home watching television trying to regain my strength going into another work week.

The Long Weekend...

Friday: The cold finally started to take hold. Stayed home, rested, and went to bed early.

Saturday: Slept in. Was going to for a bike ride, but it was a little too warm, so i just got the bikes ready instead. Went out for chinese food.Ended up going down to the freedom festival, or whatever it's called now. Started feeling worse, went home. We had company for a bit, then we watched a movie, Sahara, it was ok, except for a couple of the main plot points. By late evening i was feeling pretty bad.

Sunday: Woke up feeling like crap. Slept in until about 1pm. Went groccery shopping. Took a short nap. Just rested mostly. Wathed the aviator and went to bed.

Monday: Slept in again, cold moved a little farther into my lungs. Rested, mowed the lawn, weed whacked. We had company for a bit, bbq'd. The evening disapeared and we went to bed.
